The Tower of London at night...

...and a group of teenage boys on a night walk. This is a Catholic youth group, and we walked around the Tower, along the route by the moat, and talked battles and Vikings, fort and prison, heroes and martyrs, John Fisher and Edmund Campion and John Gerard and courage ...we enjoyed the river and the majestic Tower Bridge and talked Navy and Empire and ships bringing unknown foods like tea and lemons and spices and tangerines...we talked history and wars and blood-red poppies filling the moat and a nation's memories...and we finished at Tower Hill and Thomas More and Fr Hugh led us in prayer...

Auntie Joanna I live in Pittsburgh PA. I have always been an active member and defender of The Church. This comment is not related too this post but I was not sure how to converse with you directly. I recently read an article about a Bishop in Ireland planning for a time when there will be very few priests so it is necessary for the people to provide more support. Our Bishop and Parishes are constantly promoting that encourage members of the Parish to take this role of evangelization. This will be a great benefit to The Church but is this not also putting merely a bandage on the problem. It seems to me that The Church should be take at least the same amount of time if not more promoting the priesthood. At some point the use of the people will be useless without a priests to administer the Sacraments. Part of the way to encourage more Priests is for The Church to promote a more traditional Catholic Faith. It is not perfect but our conservative Orders seem to attract more members. It is only a very few number of Bishops have any interest in this approach. A young man in my Parish has wanted to be a Priest his entire life has been ridiculed because of his attitude to the Priesthood. Although he dose say the New Mass daily he has taught himself the Latin Mass. Our Bishop has not been supportive of him. I am interested in your thoughts on the subject. I'm unsure of my thoughts on this topic.
